Greenwood Police Department & Municipal Court Renovations

Greenwood, Mississippi

The project includes complete renovations to a two story police station and municipal court building constructed in the early 1970s.

Work to the existing 13,500 square foot building includes complete removal of interiors, including an upstairs portion which formerly housed a jail.

The space program accommodates offices, meeting rooms and support spaces, including restrooms, evidence vault, interview rooms, kitchen space and officer locker rooms with showers. An atrium skylight is located in the center of a two story space to provide filtered light into  interior offices, providing natural daylight to reduce electrical load and a brighter aesthetic.

The west facade includes a 2,000 square foot addition to accommodate a growing police force. The addition is highlighted as a metal box punctured by numerous small daylight windows juxtaposed against the solid of the brick and concrete existing facade.
