K&B Building

Greenwood, Mississippi

The project involved the restoration of an 8,000 square foot vacant historic building into a mixed use office and residential space. Beard + Riser’s scope of work included restoring the façade, converting the ground floor interior into office space, and creating three new apartments on the upper floor.

The front façade was restored to include wood and glass detailing and panel doors to match its original character. A wood canopy completed the restoration. Because the existing wood floor downstairs were severely degraded, a new concrete slab was poured and sealed to serve as the finished floor.

The upstairs apartments were designed to take advantage of existing window locations and views downtown towards the Yazoo River. All apartments feature the high ceilings and wood floors of the original building. Tongue and groove boards along the exterior walls accent the living spaces. The kitchen uses stock cabinetry, solid surface counters, and Viking Range appliances. Custom panel doors and streamlined light fixtures add a clean, modern look.
