The project involved updating a 1970s ranch home for a family with young children, and features the addition of a front porch, garage, screened back porch, and the remodeling of primary living spaces. The exterior design solution features the new timber framed garage to the west with a clapboard and lattice porch connection to the house.  The front porch, also framed in timber, highlights the main entrance and resolves proportion issues with the home's original massing.   The kitchen remodel focuses on opening up the space, and includes a timber column that was an original support for an interior corner of the garage. A stand- alone cottage was designed to accommodate the owners' parents and is fully accessible.  Its design and character are intended to be complementary to the renovated home.
